Lifestyle & Headshot Photography with LA Model Trevor Wayne

I first met Trevor Wayne through my friend Alex. Trevor and Alex are roommates and live just down the street from me in West Hollywood. Upon meeting Trevor, I had mentioned I was a headshot photographer in LA, and Trevor immediately mentioned that he could use some new headshots, and eventually, we were able to schedule a headshot photography session.

But shooting Trevor Wayne was particularly easy for this session. That’s because Trevor has had a lot of experience in front of the camera, and is actually signed to LA Models here in Los Angeles. You may have seen his bearded face in a variety of print publications over the last few years, and he’s been able to find quite a bit of success in the industry here.

Because of Trevor’s experience in front of the camera, he was an incredibly easy subject to shoot. As you can imagine, shooting headshot is all about capture different emotions and expressions. As my friend and fellow headshot photographer Dylan Patrick says, “Headshot Photography is all about reading the micro expressions, and clicking that shutter button at the right time.” When working with someone who is experienced in the field, it makes the entire task of getting great shots even easier. Because of that, after we got a few headshots, Trevor and I decided to walk around West Hollywood, and get a few lifestyle like photos for both of our portfolios.

The end result was that we got some really great looks and some diversity in an incredibly short amount of time. Not only were we able to get a really great headshot for his budding acting career, we also were able to get some really great shots that will fit in well with both of our portfolios.

    Hi there Zach,

question for your. Do you use ND filter when doing outside shoots and if so, how many stop filter do you use? I’m thinking of using the Lee filters for outside portraiture (in order to get a low F-number) and I can’t make up my mind between the little stopper and big stopper.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jaco

      Hey Jaco,

I actually use Profoto B1s and B2s on location, which has HSS built into them. It allows me to shoot up to 1/8000th a second if needed.
