This past weekend was the Día de los Muertos parade, or Day of the Dead here in Albuquerque. Since it was my first time in New Mexico during such an event, I had to go and check it out. Dia de los Muertos is a day of celebration in Mexican cultures for those who have died. The festival itself is meant to cherish life, and pay your respects to the loved ones who have died before you.
Honoring the dead is done with a festival, where everyone paints themselves like skeletons, and build alters of those who have died. The event is meant to be one of joy, not sadness, and it was truly a wonderful experience. Naturally, I took my camera along with me for the parade, and took some photos to hopefully highlight the festival.
