As many of you probably know by now, I have moved to Los Angeles to focus my attention on editorial and fashion photography, alongside my headshot work. Something you may know less about, is my move to Albuquerque a few years ago, and how I got the ball rolling on my headshot photography, so let me explain.
When I moved to Albuquerque, I had a pretty decent headshot portfolio, but no clients or leads whatsoever. I was using all the means I could come up with to let people know I was in town and available for work. One of the people I reached out to was agent Carissa Mitchell, who was the owner of one of the largest talent agencies in New Mexico. I met her at her office and showed her my work; she loved it. From that point forward, she began sending work to me, and we began working together with various actors to get them up to speed on their newly founded careers as actors. A lot of my success in Albuquerque is owed to Carissa Mitchell, for trusting in my skills, and sending clients to my studio.
So when I was leaving Albuquerque, I immediately let her and her business partner, Tina Presley know of my departure. I figured the porter way to say goodbye is to finally take their photos to use on their website and other social media outlets, and so we began planning their very own headshot photography session before I moved to Los Angeles.
The photos from this session were taken just a day or two before I left Albuquerque, so it was really great to have one of my last sessions in town with two people who have helped my business thrive so much. Since I was so far along on my move, my studio was already disassembled and packed up, so we decided to shoot in an office building that Carissa loved, located in downtown Albuquerque. The results of the photos were fantastic, and it was great to meet with them one last time before I transitioned to a new market.
