Some of you may know this, but aside from photography, music has always been a big passion of mine. I’ve been listening to music 24/7 since I was just a little kid, but I also play the bass guitar and a few other instruments.
Well, after being in Kalamazoo for a day or so, I got wind that my friend Jonathan Timm was playing a show with some friends at Shakespeares Pub. Jon and I used to play together in the band Birches, and since then, I moved to Albuquerque, and him to Nashville. So naturally, when I found out that he was playing a show (along with Dylan Lancaster; another member of Birches), I had to go check it out, and I figured I’d bring my camera with me for the ride.
What I absolutely love about Jon’s song writing is how raw is it. His music isn’t always filled with rocking guitar solos (though usually is when Dylan is there), but it is always filled with a passion that is sometimes hard to find in music these days. It was really great to be able to see him play while he was in town, and if you get the opportunity to see him play, you should definitely take it up.
