A week or so ago, I had the pleasure of working with Kellen Macklin and Nicola McMaster for their engagement photos.  I’ve known them both for years, and actually Kellen has been a good friend of mine for nearly 10 years now, and we’ve played in a few different bands together over the years.  Well, they have been dating for what seems like, forever, and it was only a matter of time before they got hitched.  It was a pleasure to work with them, and we were able to get some awesome shots from the day.  They asked me to not have your traditional engagement photos, so I did what I could to make them more interesting and against the grain from your typical engagement photos.

You can see how happy and completely in love these two are in the photos.  I couldn’t think of a better couple to get married, and I’m excited to see their lives grow together.  If you’d like to see more photos from the shoot, just click ‘Read More’ below.

Yesterday, I had the honer of working with Project Connect, a Kalamazoo based event to help low income families and members of the community.  I was able to work with the Help Portrait event in Kalamazoo back in December, so naturally, I was extremely excited to volunteer my talent and help for another event helping the community.  Over 40 different services were offered at this event, ranging from haircuts to voting registration, with hundreds of volunteers, and over one thousand members of the community.  I was able to man the portrait booth, along with Cathy Picking, Jamie Brokus, and Jason Coon.  We offered free portraits to families and members of the community that otherwise would not be able to afford them.  We were able to edit and print on site, and offering them 4×6′s of their portrait just seconds after it was taken.  The whole system worked like a well oiled machine, and got quite a positive response.

While everything is still being ironed out, I’ve decided to change my website to be more blog based with my work.  The official homepage to this site will now be a blog like structure.  I’m hoping to keep this constantly updated with recent work, photoshop tutorials, and photography tutorials for everyone to learn from and discuss.  Ofcourse, this site will still have a portfolio, which will be avilable in the links section located in the upper right side of the website.  That part is still currently being worked on though, and will hopefully be up (and easy to update) in the next week or so.  So please, kick back, enjoy, and let me know what you think of the new site!
